FxPro platforms
Pick MT4, MT5, or cTrader based on EAs and workflow.
CFDs are complex. A majority of retail investor accounts lose money. Capital at risk.
FxPro platforms for Singapore traders: MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, and cTrader. Pick based on EA needs, charting taste, and which ticket costs you measured. August 2026.
MT4
Still the default for many EA libraries and simple chart setups. Fine for FX-focused books.
MT5
More order types and markets depth for many brokers' builds. Better if you want one terminal across more asset classes.
cTrader
Clean UI, strong manual trading tools. Popular with Raw-style discretionary traders.
Demo each stack: demo account. Pricing: spreads.
Pick the platform you will actually live with
FxPro platforms for Singapore traders are MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, and cTrader. Choose based on EA needs, charting taste, and which ticket you measured on demo. Switching after muscle memory forms wastes weeks. August 2026.
MetaTrader 4
MT4 remains the default for many legacy Expert Advisors and simple FX chart setups. If your robots and indicators already live in MT4, forcing MT5 "because newer" is vanity. Confirm symbol suffixes and filling modes on the FxPro build before you migrate live capital.
Limitations show up when you want more asset classes or newer order tooling. For pure FX EA books, MT4 can still be enough.
MetaTrader 5
MT5 adds more timeframes and, on many broker builds, a wider market list. Depth and order types differ from MT4. If you trade indices and stock CFDs alongside FX, MT5 often feels less cramped. EAs are not drop-in clones of MT4 code. Retest.
Use MT5 when you want one terminal across more CFD products and you are willing to rebuild templates. See also stock CFDs.
cTrader
cTrader appeals to discretionary traders who want clean charting and depth-style workflow. Many Raw-style scalpers prefer it for manual entries. Hotkeys and one-click trading need practice on demo so misclicks die before live money.
If your edge is visual tape reading rather than MQL libraries, start cTrader on demo for a full SGT week. Guide siblings: scalping, spreads.
Direct versus platform logins
FxPro Direct holds KYC and Wallet. Platforms hold trading servers. People paste Direct passwords into MT and lock themselves in support loops. Label your password manager entries clearly.
Desktop, web, and mobile
Desktop remains best for serious size. Mobile is for management and emergencies. If you must trade on mobile, predefine max size and disable impulsive one-click until you prove control. Web terminals help when you cannot install software; still test latency.
Demo protocol by platform
- Open the matching demo (demo account).
- Import only the indicators you will use live.
- Sample spreads at your real hours.
- Practice partial closes and stop modifications.
- Journal errors for five sessions minimum.
VPS and EA hosting
A VPS helps only after an EA shows stable behaviour. Pick regions with acceptable latency to the trade servers when known. Monitor. An unattended robot is still your risk.
Entity reminder
Platform choice does not change legal entity. FxPro is not claimed as MAS CMS-licensed here. Typical SG onboarding is SCB-facing. Legal Singapore.
Funding after you choose
Account type and platform should be chosen before you care about depositing more than a test. Open account, minimum deposit, deposits.
Platforms FAQ
Which platform should beginners use?
The simplest one you will stick with. Demo all three briefly, then commit.
Can I run MT4 and cTrader together?
Yes if your account setup allows multiple platform logins. Keep risk unified in one journal.
Do spreads differ by platform?
Pricing shape matters more than UI chrome. Still measure on the platform you will trade.
Decision tree in plain sentences
If you depend on old MT4 EAs, start MT4. If you want one terminal across more CFD products and can retest robots, start MT5. If you are mostly manual and care about cTrader workflow, start cTrader. If you are unsure, demo MT5 and cTrader for three sessions each, then pick one for a quarter.
Do not run three live platforms with three conflicting strategies. That is not diversification. That is noise.
Chart and data habits
Pick one timezone display and stick to it. SGT labels reduce mistakes when journaling against London events. Keep templates minimal. Indicator clutter hides the spread you should be watching.
For scalping, enable features that prevent misclicks. For swing CFD holds, focus on financing and session closes instead of tick cosmetics. Cross-read scalping and stock CFDs.
When to change platforms later
Change only after a written reason: EA migration, product list needs, or measured execution issues. Changing because a YouTuber switched is not a reason. Withdraw surplus funds before experiments if you are prone to oversized "test" trades.
Open or continue via Partner CTA once the platform choice is settled.
Latency, hardware, and expectations
A gaming PC does not create edge if your rules are thin. A modest laptop on wired Ethernet with stable power beats a powerful machine on flaky cafe Wi-Fi.
During Singapore thunderstorms, brief disconnects happen. Know how your platform behaves on reconnect. Practice that on demo by toggling network once on purpose.
Hotkeys save seconds and also create wrong-way orders when your hand shakes. Disable dangerous shortcuts until your error rate drops.
Sync your journal timestamps to server time so you can compare fills after the fact. Arguments with memory waste evenings.
Choose the stack, practise it, then fund: Partner CTA. Compare shortlists only after platform comfort exists: vs IC Markets, vs Pepperstone.
Last note: platform brand loyalty is optional. Your journal is mandatory. If MT5 data says your rules fail, do not hop to cTrader to chase a reset high. Fix rules first. Then use Direct only with the platform you already practised.
75%+ of retail investor accounts lose money trading CFDs. Capital at risk.
